figuring out how to stay shiny

newwavefeminism:

I like the message behind this picture and all, but does anyone notice that even when we’re talking about “plus” sized women and body acceptance, we always happen to just show certain body types?  Like, yes, I guess this lady is a size 16 - but there is a difference between size and measurements. I’m a size 11 and I can already tell that my body type is still drastically different than hers.
I think i’m going to forgo giving any “plus size appreciation” posts any cookies until I see some actual love handles, muffin tops and protruding guts in the mix. Not everyone has an hourglass figure America. Its like “its fine if you’re plus sized as long as you still have the basic figure we want - you don’t gotta be super skinny but you still gotta look flawless!”
am i the only person who noticed this?

THIIIIIISSSAin’t nothing wrong with a Size 16, 5’9” person, but let me tell you, a 5’5” size 16 looks way different than a 5’9” size 16. When I was a size 16, I had stretchmarks, a belly, flabby arms and back rolls. It’s not about what size you ACTUALLY are, it’s about what size people think you are (because they treat you based on their perceptions).

amen. i’m an 8/9, but that size 12 model looks tinier than me. also, hi. more body shapes more poc? thanks.
  4. killwhiteyy answered: this is also more of an example of “frame size” than weight. you’re right, all of these women have the same body type.
  5. gotnd answered: And how is the one in the middle a size 12? She sure doesn’t look it!
  6. mirandmyst answered: Yep, at 5’2” I look as “fat” as the widest in that pic and I wear a child’s XL, not even adult sizes.
