Unfortunately I was playing with my brother and his gross friend. My brother chose to play as Wonder Woman and asked who the lady was that she got her power from. I started telling him “Athena Goddess of…” and then his friend cut in and said “Women. She’s got all the Amazons and shit.” I politely corrected him and let him know that Athena was the Goddess of War/Reason/Wisdom/Etc. My brother’s friend cut in again to let everyone know that he was choosing Aries the God of War and he put particular emphasis on the word god. I was so annoyed. My brother was pretty new to the game so he lost with Wonder Woman and his friend won with Aries (all while shouting violently sexist slurs at the screen ever time he got in a good hit). Afterwards he was like “No one can beat Gods, man”.
Only the blood of the lamb kept me from flying across the room to string this mother fucker up with his playstation controller.

I’m starting to look into modern day segregation and stumbled onto this neat looking documentary. Saving it for later.
The Order of Myths is a 2008 documentary film directed by Margaret Brown. It focuses on the Mardi Gras celebrations in Mobile, Alabama, the oldest in the United States. It reveals the separate mystic societies established and maintained by black and white groups, and acknowledges the complex racial history of a city with a slaveholding past. While showing the mystic societies’ ties to economic, class and racial stratification, the film also showed the beginnings of interaction between the black and white courts. It also tells some of the history of Africatown, a community formed north of Mobile in 1860 by Africans from Ghana, transported illegally as slaves to Mobile decades after the end of the slave trade.
